Shringar
The king walked into the maze which decided only the one that found the way out would go to heaven and rest?
After several turns he stood there mesmerised by her beauty, she looked like a goddess in the saffron green silk attire with ornaments of gold and precious gems covering her well defined curves.
Her face radiant, eyes big enhanced with kohl, fragrant flowers around her hair and her tantalizing smile luring him further, he confirmed to make it to the goal and a sense of triumph to reach heaven won his heart.
“She is mine!” his confidence and pride took over as he tried to wrap her in his arms, she laughed loud as he turned to ashes, another victim gave in to lust and attachment.
Her smile faded as she transformed into one with long protruding teeth, a huge body and burnt hair, the curse would end for the goddess only when a king would not give in to her beauty – Shringar for others was meant to enhance beauty for her was a curse.

After our successful and pleasurable journey through A-Z April Challenge, Shashank (embarkwithmythoughts) and I are delighted to bring to you nine beautiful emotions that make the Nav Ras. A rasa (Sanskrit: रस lit. ‘juice’ or ‘essence’) denotes an essential mental state and is the dominant emotional theme of a work of art or the primary feeling that is evoked in the person that views, reads or hears such a work.
The Natyasastra identifies nav rasas with eight corresponding Bhava (mood) and this month we will try to win your hearts with our five sentence fictions on each bhava. Hope you enjoy it!
Today’s emotion – Shringar (शृङ्गारं) Dressing up, Love, Attractiveness. Presiding deity: Vishnu. Colour: Green.
